Bleh! +Fix for jaunty’s high cpu usage bug

July 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Today i was thinkin of wipin my harddrive clean, and reinstalling ubuntu intrepid since jaunty is giving crazy cpu issues. Xorg was taking up my cpu and both of my cpus were being maxed out. and the temp of  my poor dell was 73 degrees C. I didn’t feel too comfortable leaving my lappy on anymore as i sleep..and it’d suck that i wasnt doing anything on it and my cpu was being maxed out so i was doing most of my crap on the mac. so i considered getting rid of the windows parition too and just having everything be ubuntu or perhaps another linux distribution because i’d like to try something differnt new.

i read in a few forums that the problem is vino-server…not really xorg. i dind’t want to kill xorg…cause..well woudln’t that be bad? i’d probalby woudlnt’ be able to see anything on my screen cause xorg has something to do with teh visuals i think? i deno. i forgot. too lazy to quickly research it. haha. i kept killin vino-server, but it wouldn’t die. a new process kept coming up.

today i totally forgot i should just do the evil KILL -9 command and be like SRSLY. KILL THE BITCH. and i did. killall vino-server and wow, my cpu usage has dropped back to normal and the temperature went back down to 53 degrees C.

so maybe i won’t to a reinstall after all….but i should still wipe out that windows partition sometime. >_>

i hope there is a fix for a vino-server bug soon. its kind of annoying. guess i shoudl quickly write a script and have it run on start up so i don’t have to be bugged by it…
